Safety Screening Score
The Safety Screening Score is used as a guide to help deterine the potential safety concerns of a product. This screnning tool was developed by the TURI Lab to help guide the selection process for cleaning products. The higher the Safety Screening Score, the potentially safer the product is. A maximum of score would be 50. Based on the lab's 5 environmental screening criteria (Volatile Organic Conpounds, Global Warming Potential, Ozone Depletion Potential, HMIS/NFPA ratings and pH). After the screening of products for safety and performance, a more comprehensive evaluation should be conducted. The lab is in the process of using the Pollution Prevention Options Assessment System (P2OASys) to provide more complete EH&S profiles.
