Trial Number 8

Trial Purpose:

Laboratory evaluations of alternative cleaning products

Date Run:

07/14/1999

Experiment Procedure:

One product was diluted to 5% and heated to 130 F. Copper coupons were coated with a buffing compound, Quaker Slush Coating and a Steel Blue ink (67-63-0, 123-86-4, 71-36-3, 7004-70-0)

Trial Results:

Two % dilution does not adequately remove contaminant.  Buffing compound scratched the surface of soft metals, causing the removal of some metal.

Success Rating:

Preliminary compatibility tests on substrate coupons encouraging for at least one cleaning chemistry. More in-depth laboratory testing necessary.

Conclusion:

No success on any of the contaminants
