Trial Purpose:

To evaluate second batch of cleaners for carbon black removal.

Experiment Procedure:

Fifteen products from the lab's inventory were selected based on client supplied information. All fifteen were sprayed onto pre-soiled coupons coated with carbon black. The cleaning product was then wiped with minimal agitation using a Kimberly Clark Wypall X60 reinforced wiper. Observations were made and products were ranked based on visual rankings. Three of the products also were used at 5% dilutions following the same procedure for the spray wipe cleaning.

Trial Results:

Several of the selected cleaners were effective in removing the carbon black using manual wiping action on the plastic coupons. One of the diluted products was effective as well. The rankings are listed in the table below.

Results successful using TACT (time, agitation, concentration, and temperature, as well as rinsing and drying) and/or other cleaning chemistries examined.
