Project Number 1
Summary:
After initial testing, a couple of aqueous cleaners were very effective in removing the buffing compound from the brass substrate through immersion cleaning. At a 10% dilution, four products were successful in removing most of the buffing compound.Test Objective:
To eliminate use of degreaser (TCE)Product Use:
Trays, punch bowls, tea potsTrial Number | Date Run | Purpose | Success Rating |
---|---|---|---|
0 | 03/26/1999 | To develop a new cleaning system to replace vapor degreasing w/ Trichloroethylene | Results successful using TACT (time, agitation, concentration, and temperature, as well as rinsing and drying) and/or other cleaning chemistries examined. |
1 | 03/29/1999 | To evaluate the effectiveness of four cleaners at an increased concentrations in the removal of the buffing compound. | Results successful using TACT (time, agitation, concentration, and temperature, as well as rinsing and drying) and/or other cleaning chemistries examined. |
2 | 03/29/1999 | To determine if ultrasonic energy would increase the cleaning efficiency of the 5% solutions. | Results successful using TACT (time, agitation, concentration, and temperature, as well as rinsing and drying) and/or other cleaning chemistries examined. |
3 | 03/29/1999 | To clean client supplied parts using the two tested aqueous cleaners. | Results suggest a scale-up feasible match for cleaning chemistry and equipment. Pilot plant study with actual parts recommended. |
4 | 05/06/1999 | To further evaluate cleaning capabilities of two cleaners from previous trials on new and old supplied parts. | A follow up test, usually based on company input. |
