Project Number 1
Summary:
Seven trials were conducted on the various supplied oils. There were three products, Aquavantage 1400, Inproclean 3800 and Sea Wash Blue, which were found to be successful on the five supplied oils. Next step would be to evaluate these products on actual parts. Additional work resulted in the company requesting a vapor degreasing drop-in solvent. Evaluations showed that nPB worked well. The company replaced 300-500 gallons of TCE usage on an annual basis. The switch over was completed in December of 2007.Test Objective:
To replace TCE for cleaning lubricants from stamped parts. Investigating nPB but need more technical assistance.Product Use:
Various usesTrial Number | Date Run | Purpose | Success Rating |
---|---|---|---|
0 | 08/14/2006 | To evaluate possible alternatives to TCE for first supplied oil. | Results successful using TACT (time, agitation, concentration, and temperature, as well as rinsing and drying) and/or other cleaning chemistries examined. |
1 | 08/15/2006 | To evaluate products on second supplied oil. | Results successful using TACT (time, agitation, concentration, and temperature, as well as rinsing and drying) and/or other cleaning chemistries examined. |
2 | 08/15/2006 | To evaluate one product, successful on second soil, on first soil. | A follow up test, usually based on company input. |
3 | 08/15/2006 | To evaluate successful cleaners on the third supplied oil using immersion cleaning. | Results successful using TACT (time, agitation, concentration, and temperature, as well as rinsing and drying) and/or other cleaning chemistries examined. |
4 | 08/21/2006 | To evaluate the five previously tested products on the fourth supplied oil. | Results successful using TACT (time, agitation, concentration, and temperature, as well as rinsing and drying) and/or other cleaning chemistries examined. |
5 | 08/21/2006 | To evaluate the three effective products on the fifth supplied oil. | Results successful using TACT (time, agitation, concentration, and temperature, as well as rinsing and drying) and/or other cleaning chemistries examined. |
6 | 08/21/2006 | To evaluate three products on fifth oil using ultrasonic cleaning. | A follow up test, usually based on company input. |
7 | 06/12/2007 | To evaluate selected products on the supplied parts using ultrasonic cleaning. | Results suggest a scale-up feasible match for cleaning chemistry and equipment. Pilot plant study with actual parts recommended. |
8 | 07/09/2007 | To clean supplied parts using drop-in vapor degreasing solvents. | Results suggest a scale-up feasible match for cleaning chemistry and equipment. Pilot plant study with actual parts recommended. |
