Project Number 1
Summary:
Ten trials were conducted by the SSL which resulted in the identification of several products that may be effective in the client’s cleaning practice. Several on-site visits were made during testing to facilitate the adoption of these alternatives. The latest round of testing evaluated the following products: Biodiesel; Soy Clear 1500; Ionox HC 2; Metalnox M6310; Shopmaster RC. At this time, cleaned parts were sent back to the client for inspection using microscopes following the client’s QA/QC procedures.Test Objective:
Find a new cleaner for station cleaning - replace mineral spiritsProduct Use:
electronic equipmentTrial Number | Date Run | Purpose | Success Rating |
---|---|---|---|
0 | 01/29/2008 | To evaluate laboratory selected products for the removal of the supplied cutting oil and compare to current cleaning solvents. | Results successful using TACT (time, agitation, concentration, and temperature, as well as rinsing and drying) and/or other cleaning chemistries examined. |
1 | 01/30/2008 | To evaluate additional products that were more closely comparable to the past solvent used for cleaning. | Results successful using TACT (time, agitation, concentration, and temperature, as well as rinsing and drying) and/or other cleaning chemistries examined. |
2 | 01/31/2008 | To evaluate products on second supplied cutting fluid. | Results successful using TACT (time, agitation, concentration, and temperature, as well as rinsing and drying) and/or other cleaning chemistries examined. |
3 | 02/22/2008 | To evaluate products on second supplied cutting fluid | Results successful using TACT (time, agitation, concentration, and temperature, as well as rinsing and drying) and/or other cleaning chemistries examined. |
4 | 02/22/2008 | To evaluate possible alternatives for solvent cleaning of oil | Results suggest a scale-up feasible match for cleaning chemistry and equipment. Pilot plant study with actual parts recommended. |
5 | 03/13/2008 | To evaluate possible alternatives for solvent cleaning of oil | Results suggest a scale-up feasible match for cleaning chemistry and equipment. Pilot plant study with actual parts recommended. |
6 | 03/13/2008 | To evaluate products on second supplied cutting fluid | Results suggest a scale-up feasible match for cleaning chemistry and equipment. Pilot plant study with actual parts recommended. |
7 | 04/02/2008 | To evaluate top cleaning products on client supplied parts for their inspection | Results suggest a scale-up feasible match for cleaning chemistry and equipment. Pilot plant study with actual parts recommended. |
8 | 04/30/2008 | To evaluate new product on the two supplied cutting fluids. | A follow up test, usually based on company input. |
9 | 04/30/2008 | To evaluate selected products on supplied parts using simulated cleaning process | Results suggest a scale-up feasible match for cleaning chemistry and equipment. Pilot plant study with actual parts recommended. |
10 | 01/17/2008 | To find a product that would replace mineral spirits in their dip cleaning applications located at each machine | Technology Transfer. |
