Project Number 1
Summary:
A drop in solvent was evaluated as a quick fix to the client’s use of TCE. Follow up on-site visit by SSL revealed additional opportunities to reduce the use of hazardous materials by replacing manual cleaning in buckets located throughout the facility.Test Objective:
To replace TCE with a non-toxic chemicalProduct Use:
All products have aerospace applications| Trial Number | Date Run | Purpose | Success Rating |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | 04/01/2008 | To evaluate selected nPB alternatives for drop-in replacement to TCE for removing oil and grease from various metals. | Results successful using TACT (time, agitation, concentration, and temperature, as well as rinsing and drying) and/or other cleaning chemistries examined. |
| 1 | 04/30/2008 | To evaluate possible immersion cleaning process for company to replace current solvent dunking system. | A follow up test, usually based on company input. |
| 2 | 04/30/2008 | To evaluate selected products on second supplied cutting fluid using simulated cleaning process. | A follow up test, usually based on company input. |
