Trial Purpose:
Laboratory evaluations of alternative cleaning products
Date Run:
02/05/2002Experiment Procedure:
Basic cleaning performance testing was conducted using ASTM G122 as the bases for cleaning.
Degasification: 5 min. in ultrasonic tank at 120 F.
Cleaning: 2 min. in ultrasonic tank at 120 F.
Rinsing: 1/2 min. manual in water at 120 F.
Drying: 1 min. with heat gun at 500 F.
Contaminant:
1. Grease: Keystone KSL 111, ELF Lubricants-Diester
2. Resin - Ashland Chemical Aroset PS 8078, (Lot# 071901). (141-78-6 Ethyl Acetate, 142-82-5 Heptane, 67-63-0 Isopropanol)
3. Buffing compound - The Lea Manufacturing Company Learok 2-B-111 - Abrasive, Fatty acids, Glycerides and petroleum wax/oil mix-silica dust (14808-60-7)
4. Paint - Nybco Designer Colors Satin finish 4660 Country Blue, Contains Toluene, Xylene, Acetone
Trial Results:
After running ultrasonic on resin contaminated coupons, they were wiped off with the tissue so that all the loose resin would be removed.
Success Rating:
Preliminary compatibility tests on substrate coupons encouraging for at least one cleaning chemistry. More in-depth laboratory testing necessary.
