Laboratory evaluations of alternative cleaning products

Experiment Procedure:

Basic cleaning performance testing was conducted using ASTM G122 as the bases for cleaning. 

Fifteen solvent-based products were applied to pre-painted CD mailing containers (AOL demo CDs) and wiped with a handheld swab for about a minute. Visual observations were made to determine if any paint was removed.

Success Rating:

Preliminary compatibility tests on substrate coupons encouraging for at least one cleaning chemistry. More in-depth laboratory testing necessary.

Conclusion:

Nine of the fifteen products removed the paint. Products will be tested using vapor degreasing.
