Project Number 1
Summary:
The lab found two possible cleaning solutions, Tsquare HTF 85 B and US Polychem 69 MC. Pilot scale testing of the 69 MC yielded inadequate dissolving of the coating. HTF 85 B was as effective as the NMP.Test Objective:
To determine optimum conditions and materials to clean stainless steel surfaces contaminated with polyurethane.Product Use:
Simulation of chemical reactor walls and mixing blades. We propose to the use of small stainless steel parts to simulate reactor walls.Trial Number | Date Run | Purpose | Success Rating |
---|---|---|---|
0 | 02/01/1996 | Preliminary lift test | Preliminary compatibility tests on substrate coupons encouraging for at least one cleaning chemistry. More in-depth laboratory testing necessary. |
1 | 02/05/1996 | Eight chemistries were tested in phase 1 | Results successful using TACT (time, agitation, concentration, and temperature, as well as rinsing and drying) and/or other cleaning chemistries examined. |
2 | 02/20/1996 | To test the soil loading characteristics | Results suggest a scale-up feasible match for cleaning chemistry and equipment. Pilot plant study with actual parts recommended. |
3 | 03/04/1996 | To determine the most effective aqueous cleaner | Results successful using TACT (time, agitation, concentration, and temperature, as well as rinsing and drying) and/or other cleaning chemistries examined. |
4 | 03/08/1996 | To determine temperature dependance | A follow up test, usually based on company input. |
5 | 04/04/1996 | Determine amount of 69MC tolerated in DI rinse | A follow up test, usually based on company input. |
6 | 04/08/1996 | To determine the amount of foam generation | A follow up test, usually based on company input. |
