A Spectro Guide Gloss-Color meter from BYK Gardner was used to evaluate gloss. Maple coupons were first coated with two layers of Minwax fast drying urethane. When wood coupons were dried, baseline gloss readings of the surface were taken in five locations. An aerosol product was then sprayed onto the surface, wiped off with a cotton rag and gloss readings were taken again in the same five locations. The difference in gloss-color was then compared to determine effectiveness.
Trial Results:
Gloss readings were expected to increase after wiping the surfaces with the wood polishing formulations. That was only the case for one product, Amrep Misty A00136. The Aspire product had the largest change in gloss.

Success Rating:
A cleanliness study, addressing only various analytical techniques.Conclusion:
Amrep Aspire resulted in the least increase in gloss among the wood polish products. In fact it caused the gloss level to decrease.
