Project #1
To remove ink from parts used in printing operation utilizing less toxic or non TURA listed chemicals
06/03/1998
Gravure printing operation
Gravure printing
back to printing operations
Toluene, methyl ethyl ketone
Isopropanol, acetates, esters
Utilizes toxic chemicals. Some parts require second cycle or hand cleaning. Parts must be wiped down with a rag to remove ink film/residue
To eliminate cross contamination of ink types and colors.
1 clean solvent
put on shelves
If you can see ink, it has to be recleaned
Would like to use existing equipment. Any new vapors must be compatible with carbon adsorption system. Potential of new hazards?
A couple of options were discovered for each of the inks supplied to the lab. Each had an aqueous or semi-aqueous chemistry.
