Trial #3
To retest previously tested solvents with the addition of heat to see if it will increase performance.
Nine pre-weighed 2"x4" stainless steel coupons, three for each cleaner tested, were contaminated with a 50/50 blend of Part A and Part B polyurethane foam after mixing at high speed with a drill press in a beaker. Coupons were immediately scrapped to remove a majority of the polyurethane foam to reflect soil levels observed in the images provided by the client. Dirty weights were recorded after soiling the coupons. Cleaners were tested at 100% concentration. The coupons were cleaned utilizing heated immersion at 100F for fifteen minutes and and then air dried for five minutes at room temperature (68F). After air drying for five minutes, coupons were gently wiped down with Wypall (one wipe). Final weights of the coupons were then recorded as well as final visual observations. The visual observations were based on the criteria listed below:
1=100% soil removed
2= 75% soil removed
3= 50% soil removed
4= 25% soil removed
5= 0% soil removed

The Sky Kleen 1000 and StaSol were not effective in removing the adhesive utilizing immersion at 100F. The Dimethyl Carbonate was mostly successful, however there was an outlier that did not perform as well as the other coupons. This is likely due to a larger amount of soil being applied to this coupon than the others.
