Part of a joint venture between EPA, TURI and RI DEM to reduce the use of TCE in the Providence, RI area, one trial was conducted on this client’s buffing compound. Two products, US Polychem Corporation Polyspray Jet 790 XS, Alconox Inc Detergent 8, were found to work on the supplied brass buckles using ultrasonic energy. With the products successful on the buffing compound, the next step will be to evaluate these cleaners on additional parts. Client had recently retrofitted their vapor degreaser and are not interested in changing their cleaning process.
