Project #1
Develop a low (<12 gpm) water use cleaning process to replace a 60 gpm high pressure process
08/26/2003
Aluminum coated with anodized Teflon impregnated coating (Nituff)
Mold for personal care production process
Small
Less than 1 lb
Removal from solidified product
Insertion into empty package
1.4 million
Custom- 2 sequential spray zones, 2 drying zones at 50 fpm
2-3 seconds
Very high volume (60 gpm) water use at 1900 psi. City water minerals react with sodium stearate in deodorant to from insoluble calcium stearate.
To prepare molds for immediate re-use as part of a continuous production process.
Used Immediately
Release of the part from the product without product damage
Cost/year of any chemical cleaning agents. Part temperature must be <25 C at exit of cleaning process. Must maintain rate of 200-240 parts per minute.
Using the laboratory's database for solvent cleaning substitution, the lab generated the following lists of products. The products have been evaluated at SSL under similar conditions to the client's criteria. Two lists of test results were generated. The first was for wax removal from aluminum substrates, and the second was for wax removal from other substrates. The specific wax information was also included when available.
