Trial #1
Further defining the boundaries of the previously determined HSPiP sphere using a new panel of solvents
There are no related objects.
Eight 20 mL scintillation vials were filled with 15 mL of the selected solvents. Then a fixed amount of shards of hardened pitch were added to each vial and allowed to soak for three hours while being mechanically agitated on a linear roller. For the first hour, observations were taken every 10 minutes to assess any changes in the character of the solution. A zero was denoted as "less than 80% of the pitch had dissolved" while a 1 denoted "more than 80% of the solution dissolved". Dissolution was assessed by visual observation as well as straining of the solvent to examine the size of pitch particulate left in the solution.
