Basic cleaning performance testing was conducted using ASTM G122 as the bases for cleaning.

A carpet with rubber backing was presoiled with cat urine. The carpet was washed three times using Renuzit Odor Eliminator powder soap and twice using Tide with Frebreeze. Each cleaning took place in a standard washing machine. The carpet was dried once in a standard clothes dryer. Following the cleaning, an initial odor level was evaluated and recorded. Each selected odor eliminator spray product was applied to a section of the fabric section and then the rubber backing and allowed to sit for 30 minutes. Observations were made. Application of the odor eliminator products was reapplied if the odor remained. The number of applications was also recorded.

Product Observations
Super H2O2 Required multiple applications to reduce the odor
Minor level of odor remaining after 5 applications
Odor Ex Required multiple applications to reduce the odor
Minimal level of odor remaining after 5 applications
Quick Spot Release Required multiple applications to reduce the odor
Still had noticeable odor after 5 applications

Two of the three odor eliminators (Super H2O2 and Odor Ex) had moderate success after multiple applications to the carpet and rubber surfaces. The Odor Ex was the most effective.
