Project Number 1

Summary:

Testing was conducted over a one-month period on four contaminants using immersion cleaning with no rinsing and air drying. An attempt was made during the evaluations to identify a product that could be used on all of the contaminants. Many products were identified to meet this requirement. Of the eleven products tested, six were successful for each contaminant. One of the products was tested in a beaker vapor degreaser at client’s request. Efficiency in the vapor cleaning was very high for all four contaminants. Ensolv has been selected by the client for in-house testing. Client has converted operations to Ensolv.

Test Objective:

To get assistance in selecting a cleaning material to replace TCE and Perc in vapor degreasing equipment

Product Use:

Capacitors
Trial Number Date Run Purpose Success Rating
0 04/13/2004 To evaluate selected vapor degreasing solvents on first oil. Results successful using TACT (time, agitation, concentration, and temperature, as well as rinsing and drying) and/or other cleaning chemistries examined.
1 04/16/2004 To evaluate selected cleaners on second supplied contaminant Results successful using TACT (time, agitation, concentration, and temperature, as well as rinsing and drying) and/or other cleaning chemistries examined.
2 04/20/2004 To evaluate products on third supplied contaminant Results successful using TACT (time, agitation, concentration, and temperature, as well as rinsing and drying) and/or other cleaning chemistries examined.
3 04/20/2004 To evaluate products on fourth supplied soil. Results successful using TACT (time, agitation, concentration, and temperature, as well as rinsing and drying) and/or other cleaning chemistries examined.
4 04/30/2004 To evaluate five new products on the first supplied soil. A follow up test, usually based on company input.
5 04/30/2004 To evaluate five new products on soil number 2 A follow up test, usually based on company input.
6 04/30/2004 To evaluate five new products on the third supplied contaminant A follow up test, usually based on company input.
7 04/30/2004 To evaluate five new products on the fourth supplied soil. A follow up test, usually based on company input.
8 05/14/2004 To evaluate one cleaner on all four contaminants using vapor degreasing Results suggest a scale-up feasible match for cleaning chemistry and equipment. Pilot plant study with actual parts recommended.
