Trial Purpose:

To test the effectiveness of The Pink Stuff on mirror, glass, and chrome.

Experiment Procedure:

Eighteen pre-weighed coupons, three of each substrate per cleaner, were soiled with half a gram of glass soil (51.5% water; 25.6% hair gel; 10.4% toothpaste; 5.3% shaving cream; 3.7% hair spray, and 3.5% spray deodorant) distributed onto each coupon using a swab. Dirty weights were recorded after the coupons had dried for 24 hours at room temperature (68° F). Three coupons of the same substrate were aligned into a Single Line Washing Unit (SLW) with Wypall X60 attached to the cleaning sled. The Wypall X60 reinforced wipe along with the coupons were all sprayed two times with water after a small amount of the cleaner was added to each coupon; then the coupons were allowed to soak for 30 seconds. Afterward, the SLW was activated, and the coupons were cleaned for 20 cycles following an additional 20 cycles where a new Wypall was placed on the sled and sprayed again twice with water. Cleaned coupons dried overnight at room temperature before the final weights were recorded.

Trial Results:

Both cleaners were effective for the removal of glass soil from all three substrates. The Pink Stuff was 98% effective for mirror and 99% effective for glass and chrome. Soft Scrub was 99% effective for mirror, glass, and chrome.

Success Rating:

Preliminary compatibility tests on substrate coupons encouraging for at least one cleaning chemistry. More in-depth laboratory testing necessary.

Conclusion:

Both cleaners were effective for the removal of glass soil from all three substrates.
