Trial Number 8

Trial Purpose:

To conduct on-site testing of laboratory tested alternative products for removing resin from equipment as part of maintenance of equipment.

Date Run:

04/29/2008

Experiment Procedure:

The lab returned to the facility to pick up the equipment and see what they had decided on for a system.

Trial Results:

The company bought a plastic tub, about 3 feet high, 3 feet wide and 1 foot deep that was on casters. The tank was used for the soaking of parts. Their plan was to put a spigot about 6 inches from the bottom on one side so the spent solution could be drained out and the resin could be collected and the two could be disposed of separately. The drain or spigot was not on the tub yet and they had only one that they believed would be enough. They had already ordered a batch of the product and were ready to switch over the cleaning to the Spartan product.

Success Rating:

Technology Transfer.

Conclusion:

The manager of the shop said the guys were happy with the removal as was management and that they may eventually share the results with the rest of the facilities nationwide. I asked Paul if I could come back when the process was in full swing and take pictures and gather some more information on their energy use, disposal and worker satisfaction.  A final visit will be scheduled in late July early August.
