As part of the laboratory’s mandate to test and evaluate the effectiveness of greener cleaning chemicals and related equipment on a variety of substrates and soils, SSL evaluates vendor supplied products by artificially contaminating coupons of different materials of constructions with a variety of commonly used industrial soils. This project helps to expand the Institute’s knowledge concerning chemical cleaners by providing a testing methodology to examine cleaners according to vendor information and not necessarily based on client company requests.
The resulting information will benefit the lab when testing arises for a specific client. Data generated from the testing will be an additional source of information on cleaning proficiencies that the lab would not have otherwise. The system will improve the Lab’s ability to identify safer and greener cleaning processes.
