Summary:

Three cleaners were tested, the Oakite product had the best ranking visually and from the wipe test. Envirosolutions was the second cleanest looking part but was third in the wipe test. Hazwell was third best visually and second with the wipe test

Test Objective:

To identify alternative cleaners for removing oil and smut from parts prior to plating.

Project Number 2

Summary:

Eight trials were conducted with student intern working at client. Cleaning results piloted in the lab with supplied parts. Five products appeared to remove all of the Rustilo. Only two parts with ball bearings had less than 95% removal with ultrasonics. Buckeye Aeromaster, Safety Kleen Corporation Armaklean M Aero NS, Brulin Corporation 815 QR, McGean Rohco Inc Alkalume LN and Today & Beyond 2004 were the successful products. Piloting has been implemented at the client's facility.
