Project Number 1

Test Objective:

To evaluate cleaners for the removal of gundrill oil and coolant from stainless steel alloy using immersion, heated immersion, and ultra sonics.
Trial Number Date Run Purpose Success Rating
0 05/28/2019 To evaluate how well enzymatic and aqueous cleaners remove gundrill oil and coolant from stainless steel alloy. Test incomplete or inconclusive.
1 06/04/2019 To evaluate how well enzymatic and aqueous cleaners remove gundrill oil and coolant from stainless steel alloy. Re-doing the unheated immersion test for Ozzy Juice SW-3 and Ozzy Juice SW-4 because of scale error in last test. Crystal Simple Green will be tested at room temperature using ultra sonics and Buckeye Immersion Cleaner will be tested at 140F using heated ultra sonics. A follow up test, usually based on company input.
2 06/11/2019 To evaluate the effectiveness of aqueous cleaners at the removal of gundrill oil/coolant from stainless steel alloy using heated ultrasonics at vendor recommended temperatures. A follow up test, usually based on company input.
3 06/18/2019 To evaluate the effectiveness of aqueous cleaners at the removal of gundrill oil/coolant from stainless steel alloy using heated ultrasonics. Results successful using TACT (time, agitation, concentration, and temperature, as well as rinsing and drying) and/or other cleaning chemistries examined.
4 07/02/2019 To evaluate the effectiveness of aqueous cleaners at the removal of gundrill oil/coolant from stainless steel alloy. Results successful using TACT (time, agitation, concentration, and temperature, as well as rinsing and drying) and/or other cleaning chemistries examined.
5 07/09/2019 To evaluate the effectiveness of aqueous cleaners for the removal of gundrill oil/coolant from copper and steel alloy company parts using heated ultrasonics. Results suggest a scale-up feasible match for cleaning chemistry and equipment. Pilot plant study with actual parts recommended.
